Review of “Liar Liar” by MJ Arlidge

MJ Arlidge never disappoints. He is a Master of Suspense! This is the fourth segment in this series and he manages to keep the twists and turns coming the entire time.

One particular aspect that I have enjoyed of every single novel that I have read by this author is that he manages to weave an intricate tale of mystery that will keep you guessing until the explosive ending!

We get to see Helen Grace in a case like one she hasn’t experienced before. They don’t know when the killer will strike or who exactly his targets are. There doesn’t appear to be much of a motive and he doesn’t strike a particular area or population. Grace and her team of detectives are racing against the clock to find the individual responsible for the horrific deaths of innocent people who were caught in an inferno. At this point, anyone is fair game. It doesn’t matter if it’s a business or a residential home, if it involves women or children. The suspect has no qualms about killing even the most defenseless of people.

As the days go on, the arsonist continues to wreak havoc all over town. Leading detectives and firemen alike on an unforgiving chase to save as many lives as they can before the fires claim more victims.

I really liked the turn of events that this novel took. I have enjoyed seeing DI Grace’s character development over the past several books. As always, it is refreshing to see the same cast of characters again and seeing the way that they all work together to fight crime.

Emilia, the journalist we all love to hate, was up to her old tactics to get information that would once again put her in the spotlight. I certainly wanted to strangle her a few times over the lengths she went to; not enough to kill her, just enough to knock some sense into her because, ya know, I’m not crazy or anything like that… (ahem)

The one thing that I can assure you of is that you will never come across a dull ending in any of this author’s books. They are always so incredibly action packed and will leave you completely breathless! The endings in this series are usually my most favorite parts because afterwards I feel as if I have just gotten off a roller coaster ride.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for approving my request to read this fantastic book!
