Synopsis:

Following the unexpected death of her father, 18-year-old Layken is forced to be the rock for both her mother and younger brother. Outwardly, she appears resilient and tenacious, but inwardly, she’s losing hope.

Enter Will Cooper: The attractive, 21-year-old new neighbor with an intriguing passion for slam poetry and a unique sense of humor. Within days of their introduction, Will and Layken form an intense emotional connection, leaving Layken with a renewed sense of hope.

Not long after an intense, heart-stopping first date, they are slammed to the core when a shocking revelation forces their new relationship to a sudden halt. Daily interactions become impossibly painful as they struggle to find a balance between the feelings that pull them together, and the secret that keeps them apart.

Review:

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve gotten my heart shattered by a book so I suppose I was due for one. This book was beautiful beyond words. I absolutely adored it. Sure, it made me cry a bajillion times throughout the entire novel, but there was just no way I could even put it down.

I love Lake and Will. I love how complicated yet beautiful their romance is. There were certain elements in Slammed that I hadn’t expected, but it just made the whole experience even better.

It was lyrical and multi-dimensional. This novel is as unique as one can possibly be with it’s beautiful poetic slam contests.

This book tore me apart and slowly pieced me back together again. Now I’m asking myself why on earth I waited so long to read it when I had a signed copy sitting on my bookshelf for so long.

Latches latched the windows down, the dog coming in and the dog going out.

Up with caffeine and down with the shot.

Constantly worried  about what I’ve got distracted by work, but I can’t make it stop and my confidence on and my confidence off.
